This song is a grief honoring song that was inspired by a photo I saw on the internet of a 9-year old girl standing next to a big Brown Bear she had killed. The people who had posted the photo were glorifying this act; she was standing next to the bear with her gun. This photograph triggered great grief in me; writing the song is an act of expressing that grief, & in sharing it with others it's very healing. Traditional cultures have always had community grief-honoring ceremonies, as well as celebrations because the recognize how important it is to grieve.

of a Big Brown Bear in the wilderness.
And the little girl who shot it dead.

This is so sad, it breaks my heart in two.

About the little girl and her big, big gun.
And the Bear she killed for someone's fun.
